Wings of Love

The Spotlight Shines Behind The Curtains

March 19, 2023 – Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai: The ricocheting sound of heavenly voices fill up the arena as the spectators are captivated by the soulful melodies and lyrics.

AR Rahman’s first live performance in Chennai after the lockdown is a sufi music concert with a social mission. Wings of Love, presented by AR Rahman Foundation, Rotary International (District 3232), SS International Live, and ACTC Studio Pvt Ltd, was set up with the aim to raise donations for the “SAVE LIGHTMAN” Fund. It was a boisterous attempt to peek behind the curtains and celebrate the people, the superheroes, who work tirelessly for the film industry.

The lightmen. With tedious hours, it is a physically demanding occupation. It requires the workers to be under risky and remote conditions with heavy and high-maintenance equipment. They are also underpaid and their pivotal work goes under notice in the industry. For a movie to succeed, it’s vital for every frame of a film to set the right atmosphere and effect throughout the run time.

AR Rahman, the legendary music director came forward to host the concert and join the mission to support the needy lighting industry: the lightmen as well as their family members. Wings of Love: The sufi concert welcomed and amassed an audience over 5K+. The artist line up included famous musicians like Javed Ali, Swetha Mohan, Mano, and Sivamani.

The collective effort of the multiple organizations, crew, celebrities, and the public, Wings of Love was a massive success and managed to raise donations for these underprivileged and underrepresented fields of work. The facility to donate is open for the general public, you can visit the website to read more about our mission and contribute to our cause.
